Around this time of year, every year, all I can think about is giving my home a little seasonal update. Refreshing your home for Spring can be a great way to shake off the winter blues and bring new life into your space. Here are some easy tips to help you get started:
Declutter: Start by getting rid of any items that you no longer need or want. Spring cleaning is the perfect time to declutter your home and create more space. Even better to do this on one of those early Spring days when you can pop open those windows!
Deep Clean: Once you've decluttered, it's time to deep clean your home. Dust and vacuum all surfaces, clean your windows and scrub your floors. I love a good Spring cleaning.
Bring in some greenery: Add houseplants to your home to bring natural beauty and improve indoor air quality. Every late Fall and early Spring is when I do a houseplant reassessment. I love adding new houseplants at the change of these two seasons.
Change your decor: Switch out heavy winter textiles, such as blankets and curtains, for lighter, brighter spring options. Add colorful throw pillows and fresh flowers to give your home a cheerful vibe.
Rearrange your furniture: Changing the layout of your furniture can give your home a fresh new look. Try moving your sofa or bed to a different spot or rearranging your decorative items. I am a serial furniture mover, and nothing uplifts my spirits more on a snowy, rainy Saturday than quickly refreshing my spaces with an excellent furniture move.
Let in the light: Open your curtains and blinds to let in as much natural light as possible. Consider replacing heavy winter curtains with lighter, sheer options if you have heavy winter curtains.
Have fun with it all, and here's to a new season!
